Mosonmagyarovar is a Hungarian spa town very close to the Austrian and Slovakian Borders. This beautiful spa town is not as popular as Budapest for dentistry with the British and Irish but the town is full of well qualified dentists who have been kept in employment by Austrian and German patients for decades. Shopping around could be possible as the town center is literally full of dentists with every other house a surgery, but not advisable and could easily backfire. It is safer to short list dental clinics on-line, get in touch and do some research.
A small number of British and Irish patients who prefer to have their dental treatment in this picturesque town rather than a bustling city will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere that Mosonmagyarovar provides. Budapest airport is generally too far away which is why patients will fly into Bratislava and hop across the border into Hungary.
This destination is also proving popular with patients from the U.S as Vienna International Airport is not far away.
Most surgeries will offer complimentary airport transfers and some also provide accommodation at special rates for dental patients as good business relationships between dentists and hotels are very strong. The most sought after type of accommodation is 3 star hotel or B&B, offering simple, clean rooms with en-suite bathrooms and central location. It is possible to find really good quality, value for money 4 star hotels for not much more.
There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from and exchanging locally is easy and inexpensive.
As for tourist attractions the medicinal spa bath experience is an absolute must. The train is also fantastic for visiting nearby Vienna and Bratislava.
Bird watching is another popular activity, as Mosonmagyarovar is the gate to “Szigetkoz”, a small plain island formed by the River Danube. The best time for this is the autumn and the spring.
A nice walk can also be very educational as the town conserved the typical Baroque architecture and art.
