Located in the North West of Hungary Sopron is considered by many to be the most densely populated town in the world with dental clinics. It boasts over 300 dental clinics in a town with a population of just 60,000 people.
Sopron is right on the Austrian border and has mainly grown in popularity as a place to go for dental treatment due to the large amount of Austrians travelling there for treatment.
The town has a lot of History and is around 70 to 80 kilometres away from both Vienna and Bratislava airports.
You will see the occasional British dental patient in Sopron but the area services Austrian, Swiss and German patients in the main, however in the past 4-5 years surgeries opened up for the English speaking market and they are hoping to catch the attention and the heart of the patients.
Sopron is often called the “Town of Faith”, as the citizens voted to remain part of Hungary instead of being under Austrian rule in 1921, as Sopron was signed over to Austria and part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The landscape is very attractive as the Alps Mountain starts from here. There is plenty to do, including hiking and exploring this wine region famous for Blue Frankish, Pinot Noir and Tramini.
The buildings are beautiful and you will discover a mixture of styles. Famous sights include the Firewatch Tower (on pic.), Goat Church, Central Square (Fő tér), Lővérek.
There is a well-structured hotel industry and many hotels have their own in-house dental surgery, beauty parlour, swimming pool and other recreational facilities designed for the guests to be pampered and experience the ultimate make-over.
