Spring Festival Hungary

Spring in Hungarian Dental Paradise

Spring time in Hungary is always very exciting. The country is buzzing with festivals. When dental tourists visit they just can’t believe how interesting, colourful and educational these programmes can be.

When searching for a dentist abroad, every patient have different views on making a judgement. Which country to go to? And then which surgery to choose. There are so many dentist on-line… and it is not possible to research them all. In my experience the location of the chosen dental surgery has very little to do with the final decision, never mind the time of the year.  Many patients ask about the make of dental implants and the description of full surgical procedures but only very few about what to do in the area or if there is anything on.

Spring is a great time to travel to Hungary fro dental treatments. The flights are relatively cheap (apart from Easter), hotels have pre-season offers on and music, dance and cultural festivals are providing excellent entertainment.

So, if you can make time, plan your dental trip to Hungary pretty soon…

Spring Festivals start on the 12th of March and on for about a whole month. More information here http://www.btf.hu/btf2012/index.php?l=en

Do your research and enjoy the benefits of what dental tourism and several dental destinations can offer.

Dental implant can help getting your chewing function back

Assisting to the success of dental implants

Many dental patients research very well the subject of receiving dental implants. First they have to find out if they are good candidates, at all. Then the research begins. For most the price can be a real issue. Dental implants can provide excellent solution for tooth replacement, so the demand is high. According to a survey there are 75% more implant surgeries performed in Eastern Europe than in the rest of Europe though (http://www.news-medical.net/news/20100413/Impact-of-economic-downturn-on-European-dental-implant-industry.aspx?page=2).

The reason why can be explained through dental tourism. However strange it can sound for some of us, dental tourism is still steadily growing as more and more dental patients are looking for more affordable treatments. Those, who are in need of a dental treatment, probably researched the subject fairly well. On average, dental patients can save around 60%-70% on their dental treatment by choosing to visit a dentist in Hungary. Whilst dental implants start from around £1000 in the United Kingdom, in Hungary they are around £600.

Anyway, wherever you receive dental treatments from, most probably it will cost you a bit of money. So apart from making sure we chose the right dentist, whose skills we trust enough to perform this surgery, most of us will want to contribute in some way towards the success of it all.
There are several things we can do, even if we are generally in good health. It is advisable to implement a vitamin cure 2-3 weeks before the treatment would take place to increase the vitality of our immune system. Cut caffeine and alcohol. If you are preparing for dental implant surgery, most probably you already quit smoking anyway, as smoking can really jeopardise the outcome.

Try eating something nice and not too spicy before your surgery and make sure you are well hydrated.

Before the surgery do discuss your current medication with the oral surgeon and just relax. I know, it is easier said than done, but this is the best way you can assist to the surgeon. I remember sitting at the dentist’s office once and couldn’t help thinking how absurd the situation was. Sitting there, waiting to receive some pain and then even pay for it… But honestly, it doesn’t have to be that painful. Just relax, envisage your brand new smile and the day when you will be able to chew again properly.

After the surgery most probably you will experience some discomfort and the healing process will start. Your dentist will give you some instructions on cleaning. But not many of them will direct your attention towards what to eat or drink and what not to.
You should not eat or drink anything hot for a day (24 hours) to avoid the possibility of increased bleeding. Citric acid should be banned (for example orange or lemon juice) and also fresh milk, coffee, alcohol and black tea. Try to eat foods that don’t need chewing, do not be tempted by crisps, or any other sharp food or snacks. And a general good advice: keep your head up high!

Kim at the dentist

Kim Kardashian and her dentist

Reading about how celebs also go to the dentist makes them look like real people. In the end of the day a toothache is painful no matter what our status or financial backgrounds are.
She recently visited her dentist in California and tweeted “Let the numbing begin! I need a shot 🙁 I’m scared!”

http://celebrity-gossip.net/celebrities/hollywood/kim-kardashian-dental-filling-damsel-214532

Well, beauty comes at a price and celebs simply can not afford to neglect their teeth. Just remember poor Lindsey Lohan….
Kim Tweeted recently: “A day at the dentist is never fun! Well unless its with Dr. Kevin Sands! Love you doc but fillings suck. #HalfMyFaceIsNumb.”

So, knowing how much our celebs have to suffer to look and feel their best, we should stop feeling so sorry for ourselves and get on with that dental visit.
However, if patients wish to have the very same Hollywood smile only at a fraction of the price: look into travelling to Hungary for dental care! It will cost a lot less!

Flying to Hungary for dental care

Trust Issues Still Drives American Patients to Travel to Hungary for Dental Treatment

Perhaps the most famous place in the world for dental tourism is Hungary. It all began when Austrian people drove a few kilometres across the border into Hungary for dental treatment costing half of the price of dental care in their own country. Since then Hungary has developed a world class infrastructure and platform catering for dental patients travelling from many other countries including a growing number from America.

Hungary still attracts patients from all over the world but other countries still try to mimic what Hungary offers but without as much success. Here is a guide for the American dental tourist:

Many American dental patients still insist on travelling about 5000 miles to Hungary for their dental treatment despite places like Mexico, Costa Rica and India crying out for their business.

Mexico and Costa Rico is much closer to America than Hungary so why does a sizeable amount of American patients still insist on travelling across the Atlantic ocean to Hungary for treatment?

India is an extra 2,500 miles from America than Hungary but offers slightly lower dental costs than Hungary but still some Americans insist on only going to Hungary. Why?

It comes down to quality and trust! Hungary has been building a strong dental infrastructure since the end of the Second World War which cannot yet be rivalled by other countries mimicking dental tourism. In addition Hungary joined the EU in 2004 and the dental industry could boast EU standards in Healthcare. This infrastructure is strong and is the basis of good dental practice, quality dental materials, and high levels of education as well as first class hygiene practices. Unlike India where there are regular reports of dentists practicing with bogus degrees, Hungarian dentists are well qualified and have proven to have outstanding skill in dentistry.

Patients who travel to Hungary know that when they walk out on the street things are safe and civilised. In Mexico, Costa Rica and India safety is a big issue. From the moment that you step out of the airport you have to have your wits about you.

When you have dental treatment a team of people are involved in the success of your treatment. Material manufacturers must supply quality materials to the dental clinic. The dentist you see must be able to communicate with you and provide high quality dental care. The education system is important not only for the dentist’s main qualification but all of the post graduate courses necessary to perform some of the complex procedures required by the dental tourist. Dental Technicians are the unsung heroes. They make your new teeth to perfection. It takes time to produce quality crowns, bridges and dentures that are the right shape, size, colour and shade. Dental nurses and assistants are the ones who not only assist the dentist but they ensure that high levels of infection control are maintained in the clinic.

The guarantees offered by Hungarian dentists are for real and you know that one a price has been set for your treatment then you know that there are no hidden charges or nasty surprises in the final bill.

We all know that low prices are good if quality is maintained and we all know that cheapest is not always the best.

Travelling to Budapest or elsewhere in Hungary for dental treatment is fairly straightforward and safe.

cheap dentist

Fake Dentist offering cheaper services gets suspended sentence

According to Dentistry IQ on-line magazine „Stephen Sickelmore, 52, posed as a qualified professional when he visited patients all over Devon and Cornwall and took impressions of their mouths.”

(see more here http://www.dentistryiq.com/index/display/news-display/1583593297.html)

The guy was a dental technician apprentice once, but his qualifications expired. This was the closest he ever got to being a professional. He advertised int eh Yellow Pages as „The Denture Clinic” and played vulnerable old dental patients out of their money in exchange of wonky dental sets.

„Many patients of his Denture Clinic were left with painful, ill-fitting dentures while others were embarrassed to be seen in public wearing them after teeth chipped or fell out.”- says the article and describes how he was operating in a highly unhygienic mess.

I can’t blame the patients. Many of them would look into cheaper alternative, as not all of them can afford to have fixed dentures or implant supported bridges. As the recession is still growing we all search for better value for money. But as the recession hits on many other countries it is worth considering travelling abroad for some cheap dental work and other services like, opticians, beauticians and hairdressers.

But before anybody would commit  should check out qualifications of the dentists and if they are registered by the General Dental Council in London.

Seven years ago, when Hungarian Dental Travel was established, some of our team members spent few months over in Hungary, spending long hours at the dentists’s surgery in Budapest, Mosonmagyarovar, Gyor,  Sopron, Heviz and around the  Lake Balaton inspecting our possible dental partners’ qualifications, experience, English language knowledge, even their dental technicians’ work to reduce risks for our patients and maintain high quality control. But even if you chose to use a dentist or any dental professional in your home country, make sure you check upon the qualifications.

Save and enjoy money in Hungary

Charlie Sheen and his teeth

I love the Daily Mail! They keep me entertained all the time, even with dental related news.

See the headlines I’m not crazy any more,’ insists Charlie Sheen (but his dental work is still a little haywire)” (Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2084322/Charlie-Sheen-shows-odd-looking-tooth-public-appearance-dentist-trip.html#ixzz1j3ZZ2znq)

No wonder he’d start his make-over at the dentist’s chair. A new set of teeth can take off up to 15 years, but I don’t see any changes on his smile yet…. Reading the comments, I am not alone. He seems to be in between dental appointments and I have no doubt his dentist will get few promotional mentions…. As we know, our celebs love saving on dental bills. So watch this space.

Charlie Sheen might be able to restore his public image, starting at the therapist and the dentist. But many dental patients just can not afford dental fees and unable to provide public mentions.

So what to do if somebody needs a new smile?

Well, there are several options, of course. The National Health Service can provide certain treatments for free or low cost, or taking out a dental insurance can work out in some cases. Many Eastern European dentists are offering consultations and treatments in the UK, Ireland and in the USA, but also travelling for dental treatments could be a very rewarding option.

Especially if dental patients want to experience a different culture and enjoy further savings on other services, like optician, beautician and spa treatments, as they are a lot cheaper in Hungary.

saving money on dental trip

Make the most of your dental trip

Dutch dental patients expect the price of dental treatments to rise rapidly.

After the Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations many of us decided to commit to a resolution. Some of us will be thinking to finally sort our teeth out, but some of us will be put off by the costs of private dental treatments int he UK, US and many other European countries…

Those Dutch dental patients, who wish to have their teeth fixed will have to be disappointed, as fees are on a sharp rise- Dutch News reports
http://www.dutchnews.nl/news/archives/2012/01/dentists_fees_rise_sharply.php
Hungary has been the most popular dental tourism destination int he last decade and the highly competitive prices will support its status for many years coming.

Especially now it is worth it, as the Hungarian Forint is suffering so badly on the International currency market. Patients travelling now will get a lot more out of their dental holiday, although the price of the dental treatments are fixed in GBP but as the additional costs, like restaurant costs, entertainment and shopping (optician, clothes, beauty treatments) will be a lot cheaper against the Euro and the GBP.

So if anybody wishes to take advantage of this currant situations, please e-mail chris@hungariandentaltravel.co.uk or call our new number 0207 193 1384 (in case the line is busy patients can leave message, we always call back)
